Save Hundreds of Dollars on Groceries

Save Money NOW $$

My friends and family always like to make fun of me because I am a coupon clipper. I am writing today because coupon clipping and watching the weekly grocery store ads has saved me thousands of dollars. The biggest excuse I hear about not using coupons is that I don't have the time to clip them. I'm pretty sure most people could take 15-30 minutes a week, in order to save 30% or more on their weekly grocery bills.

Some helpful tips and money saving websites:

If you don't subscribe to your local newspaper, I would suggest that you either purchase a Sunday subscription, or make it a point to purchase a newspaper almost every Sunday. The Sunday paper (at least in my area) is typically filled with flyers of valuable money saving coupons. A side note, usually the week of a holiday there are no manufacturer coupons in the newspaper. In addition to purchasing a newspaper in order to get coupons, there are numerous websites that you can check out that have manufacturer coupons that you can print on your home PC and take to the grocery store to use. The websites that I frequent that offer free coupons are http://www.coupons.com, http://www.smartsource.com, http://www.redplum.com, or the website of many manufacturers of your favorite products. A couple of examples of these websites are http://www.pillsbury.com and http://www.kraftfoods.com. I also highly recommend a few other sites where you pay a nominal fee for clipped coupons. I think these websites are great because they give you access to many coupons that you cannot find in your local newspaper. The website is http://www.couponclippers.com and http://www.couponcarryout.com. The trick to using this website is simple. Watch for coupons for items that you buy frequently. When you order these coupons, DO NOT use them until the item goes on sale with your local grocery store. It is tempting to purchase items as soon as you receive the coupons, but trust me most of the time the item WILL go on sale. Obvioulsy, if the coupon is going to expire you will have to use it even if there is no sale!! If you wait to buy items and use coupons when items are on sale, you will get many items virtually free. Once I started this practice, it has been simply amazing how much money I save on my weekly grocery bill.

Another very worthy item to note is this, if you have a grocery store in your area that doubles or even triples coupons you MUST shop these stores with your coupons. So even though sometimes the retail prices of items may be more expensive at your local grocer, when there is a store sale coupled with double coupons your savings could and will be astronomical. None of this advice sounds like rocket science, but unless you take the time each week to do a little research and homework you won't save big bucks!!

Alright now it is time to stop reading my hub and go start clipping coupons. There is lots of money to be saved!!
